July, Hot Hot Icy Hot

Summer’s in full swing and the heat is on! Here’s a handy chart that explains heat stroke vs. heat exhaustion. Be sure to stay cool, and drink plenty of water.

Lately, I’ve been enjoying iced Matcha Tea which I used to love. It’s refreshing and gives me an extra boost without the bitter jitters. Now, don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy my morning cup o’ joe but as I’ve gotten older, I can’t drink it past 11:00 am anymore. Alas. Matcha Mo to the rescue! 🙂 Like coffee, it contains polyphenols, and antioxidants, and boosts your metabolism, plus it has the added benefits of potential brain health, and cancer prevention. NOTE: I’m talking about UNSWEETENED Matcha and coffee. Feel free to add unsweetened milk of choice to either drink but ease up on the sweeteners. Sugar-weaning in baby steps works. Believe me, I teach courses and workshops on the very subject and am walking proof.
Setting small goals builds new habits and can add up to achieving larger goals. How do you log your progress? Studies have shown that accountability with a coach or partner helps build habit formation. I’d love to hear how it works for you.

Icy Matcha

What are your favorite summer beverages and treats? What are your favorite summer activities? Why not combine both and have an outdoor picnic centered around some activities and games? As a kid, my family often went to the lake and we’d swim, play hide and seek, run around with a frisbee, and have a picnic or BBQ. It was usually an all-day affair but sometimes we’d go for half a day and either way was fun!

Here’s wishing you a refreshing and relaxing mid-summer!

Enjoy and stay cool and hydrated!

xo,

Mo
