If you were like me as a kid, I was always sad when August came because it meant the days of swimming and freedom were coming to a close and school was just around the corner. This picture was taken during the summer I learned how to water ski on Squam Lake in New Hampshire. Squam Lake is where the movie On Golden Pond was filmed. We loved that movie and the lake! This photo was taken at the end of our vacation and back to school was just around the corner. Speaking of the end-of-summer and movies, Summer Lovin’ had me a blast. Name that musical! HINT: Grease is the word! 🙂 Celebrate the last days of summer on the beach, in the pool, or with outdoor-themed movie nights. Host a movie-themed potluck. Some of my favorite childhood memories are when my parents took my sister and me to Drive-in Movies. We spread blankets on the hood of our blue Ford Country Squire station wagon with side wood paneling. Mom made us a giant bowl of salted popcorn, set the speakers on each side of the car and voila, we were transported into another universe. E.T. and Grease were two of my favorites!
August 15th is National Relaxation Day. Take time for your wellness and stress relief. Focus on mindfulness, relaxation, fun activities, and self-care routines. Relaxation means different things to everyone, so you do you. Try self-care snacking. 🙂 I just made that up but I recently learned about exercise snacking which breaks up daily exercise into bite-sized bursts of physical exertion or movement so why not try it with self-care? Even 15 minutes does wonders! Make self-care a priority. You deserve it!
