As summer comes to a bittersweet end, and we ramp up to our back-to-school routines, I find myself asking, yet again, where has the summer gone?
A few things I’ve been focusing on this summer include;
- stretch and tone, and strengthen bones
- modifying routines by listening to my body
- spending more time with my loved ones
- a magical trip to Carmel with my mom and sister to celebrate Mom’s 85th birthday
- creating more Morselicious recipes
- advocating for equitable health, human rights, and democracy
- Lots of singing (arts & health are vital for our well-being & brain health)

Mom’s 85th in Carmel
This month’s issue is short, so I’ll leave you with one of my favorite Morselicious summer recipes.
Mo’s Cacao Peanut Butter Shake
Ingredients
2 Tbsp. cacao or cocoa powder (I use unsweetened)*
2 tsp. chia seeds
2 Tbsp. peanut butter powder (I use unsweetened)**
1 Tbsp. peanut butter, unsweetened
3/4 cup unsweetened almond or milk of choice
Optional: Cinnamon, to taste
Optional: For an extra kick – Cayenne pepper, to taste
1/2 cup to 3/4 cup crushed ice (depending on your desired consistency
*For more sweetness, add a sprinkle of pure stevia or monk fruit
**There’s some sugar in peanut butter powder, but you can also get the unsweetened version.
Directions
In a blender, add all ingredients and blend until smooth. I use a high-speed blender that crushes my ice into a thick, icy shake consistency. If you don’t have a high-speed blender, use crushed ice to avoid burning out your motor. (Speaking from experience).
