Morselicious December Delights: Finding Magic, Balance & Self-Care This Holiday Season
Ho Ho Ho from Mo Mo Mo!
Twinkling lights, magical joy in the air, and festive carols sing, “Tis the season to be jolly!” Unless, of course, you’re feeling more along the tune of, “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch!” 🙂 However, Mr. Grinch eventually came around and full disclosure, this Grump Tree made my heart smile. See photo. Whether you’ve been naughty or nice, we can chat about how we can fully embrace and enjoy this time of year without sacrificing our well-being.
Choose and SavOUr* Your Holiday Treats
It’s the season of indulgence—and yes, you should indulge! But let’s do it with intention. Whether it’s Grandma’s gooey fudge, your famous holiday cookie, or that spicy mug of nog, pick your absolute favorites, savOUR* them, and let every bite or sip, and sometimes in my case, especially with cocoa, gulp, bring you joy. Mindful choices help you fully enjoy the moment without overdoing it. Remember, it’s about quality over quantity! I know, tell that to Santa and his helpers.
*SavOUR is my compromise between savoring and devouring.
Find the Micro Glimmers
In the hustle and bustle, don’t forget to pause and appreciate the small, micro glimmers. A kind smile from a stranger, the way your favorite scarf feels on a chilly morning, or the sparkle of the holiday lights around your fireplace and/or on your drive home. These “micro glimmers” are tiny bursts of joy waiting to be noticed.
Create Your Own Holiday Spice and Magic
Who says holiday magic has to come from a Hallmark movie, although, full disclosure, I’m a sucker for these films. Infuse your days with simple pleasures. Add cinnamon to your coffee, light a festive scented candle, or play and sing your favorite holiday songs while wrapping gifts. It’s the little things that make the season special.
Balance Festive Adventures with Routine
Festive outings and parties can bring excitement but don’t abandon your routine completely. Keep up with the habits that ground you—whether it’s your morning walk, a healthy breakfast, journaling, or your favorite yoga class. Balance is key: sprinkle in festive adventures without throwing your whole rhythm off. Also, it’s a great idea to eat a healthy meal before you head out to a holiday party where there will be oodles of tempting treats. If you’ve sated your appetite beforehand, you can mindfully indulge without completely overdoing it, and avoid waking up with a sugar hang-over. If you’re ready to schedule your New Year Kickstart Power session, your timing is perfect!
Self-Care: Anticipate and Plan
The holidays can be demanding, so let’s flip the script. Instead of waiting until you’re burned out, schedule your rest and self-care. Anticipate your needs. Plan cozy nights in with a good book or a holiday movie. Give yourself permission to say no when needed.
Wishing You a Morselicious Holiday
This December, let’s make room for joy, connection, and nourishment—not just for our bodies but for our spirits too. I hope this season is filled with magic, laughter, love, plenty of holiday spice and everything nice!
May your days be Morseliciously merry and bright!
