Hello!
Happy Thankful Thursday!
What are you thankful for today?
I’m thankful for my health, my family,
my friends, my sense of humor, drive, 2 new stores:
Maddy’s Markets in Calabasas and Mother’s Market in Brea!
Love my new displays and stores
and YOU, my readers!!!
In fact, a SPECIAL THANKS to one of my AWESOME MORSELITE’S:
Amy, who sent me this super cute EAT MORE KALE sticker from Vermont!
Love it and it’s sitting right here on my desk!
In a desire to wean myself from even more sugar,
I’ve been experimenting with using LESS fruit in my smoothies,
NOT saying you have to, but wanted to share.
The results have been pretty tasty. There is still sugar in carrots.
In fact, 1 medium sized carrot has 3 g sugar.
A small apple has 13 g sugar.
1 cup blueberries has 15 g sugar
1 banana has 28 g sugar
1 cup chopped zucchini has 2 g sugar
1 cup sweet potato has 13 g sugar
1 tsp of sugar = 4 g sugar, fyi.
Here are a couple of great sites with nutritional data:
Granted, the sugar comes from food in its natural state, but
it still adds up and for diabetics, they have to watch ALL sugar.
Just more food for thought.
My LESS FRUITY GREEN SMOOTIE (because the Morselist LOVES her rhymes)
is quite tasty and passes the MORSELICIOUS test.
Try it and please let me know what you think.
4 TBSP Hemp protein powder
Thanks, Karen and it’s not just for diabetics…I believe we can ALL manage our blood sugar levels better. 🙂
Thanks for for all you do to help diabetics manage their blood sugar levels!
WOW! Great to know, Amy! Thanks for sharing!
p.s. do not store carrots and apples together. i knew one emitted a gas that wrecked the other. here’s proof:

i found this pretty easily on the internet but it’s a pretty well known fact among farmers.
thanks mo!!! my car wears the sticker with pride!!!
do you use raw sweet potatoes/yams in your smoothies??? i also didn’t know you could freeze zucchini.
thought you and your readers would want to know that 4 T = 1/4 cup – so i just leave a 1/4 cup measure in my hemp protein.
and to ALWAYS have close to fresh herbs – just chop and freeze in zip lock bags.
now – i gotta try today’s smoothie!!! YUM
You’re welcome, Amy and THANK YOU!
I chop and freeze almost ALL my veggies b/c I LOVE a SHAKE consistency!
I bake my sweet potatoes a bit…more tasty…but if you try raw in your smoothies, please let me know how it turns out!
Thanks for the reminder 4TBSP=1/4 Cup!
