My favorite childhood book is The Velveteen Rabbit, in which a little boy receives the beautiful, bright, and shiny new stuffed velveteen rabbit on Christmas Day. The message still makes my heart swell. Being truly loved means we are flawed, have scars, and are beautiful inside and out.
