Last week, I met with a new friend and Registered Dietitian.

We were discussing health and lifestyle choices.

She observed that most of her clients and people in general

take their health for granted until they are forced to re-evaluate

due to a personal health scare.

This led me to consider various scenarios and people I’ve encountered and

sadly, I would tend to agree this is the case for many, if not most people.

Why does it take a life threatening or serious illness to “WAKE US UP?!”

Knowing all we know and how important following a healthy life-style

is to good/optimum health, why do some of us ignore it and play

as we are invincible?

Some of us even teeter on the verge of bragging about our bad habits, wearing them

like badges of honor.

Me? I’ve had too many psychical and emotional scares to do anything BUT

do my best to “walk my walk” and lead a healthy AND fun lifestyle.

Most of us know the basics:

-Eat in moderation.

-Eat a rainbow of colors (NATURAL colors).

-Limit intake of sodium/sugar/refined carbs, saturated & trans fats.

-Replace with good fats.

-Choose whole-grain, high fiber.

-Eat real-whole foods.

-Read labels.

-Eat plenty of veggies and fruits.

-Exercise. Sweat! or as I like to say, “GET YOUR GLOW!”

-Be mindful and conscious.

– Get your zzzz’s!!!

– and LOTS OF LAUGHTER!!!

Where do you fit in this spectrum?
Why do you think you live a certain way?
Eat the things you eat?
Do the things you do?
What makes you tick?
I really want to know and would appreciate you sharing with all of us.

I’m curious, baffled and inspired and this is what I want to WORK OUT today!

  1. Great points, Jill! I agree with you on the training from birth..and much prefer home baked sweet potato fries!!
Hope to see you Saturday with Pumpkin Cranberry Morsels!

  2. I’m so happy pumpkin/cranberry is back! Yeah!!!!! Great pic, Mo!

Why do we eat foods that are less than healthy? Well, anyone who has ever sunk their teeth into a Snickers, or a malted milk shake, or a double double or a Dodger dog can answer that question. It’s been eons since I’ve been able to eat like that. This weekend with the grands, I grabbed a french fry in hunger desperation. YUK!!! Much easier to train from birth, me thinks.
