Bumble Bees

Last night, I watched the 65th Annual Tony Awards Ceremony and was deeply inspired by one acceptance speech in particular.

The award was for Best Featured Actress in a Musical, and it went to Nikki M. Jones for her role in THE BOOK OF MORMON.

In her speech, she shares a story of the bumblebees and how physicists couldn’t figure out how they flew, but they do fly and they did it because no one told them they couldn’t fly.

It was pure determination and sheer will, and Nikki said she came from a long line of bumblebees. I love that analogy and hope we all have some bumblebee in our lineage.

The morsel of the story:

Don’t let anyone squelch your deepest desires and dreams. We can do whatever we set our minds and hearts to accomplish.

It probably won’t happen without a lot of sweat and tears, but what really does? And truly,  sweat & tears are just water, and we all know the benefits of water.

Water DID kill the Wicked Witch of the West.

Today, let’s spread our wings and fly! (or for those with a sicker sense of humor, just buzzzzzzzz around capturing the attention of someone you really want to connect with, or bug…)

Have a Morselicouszzzzzzzzzz Day!

  1. So fun that you watched them! They took place 2 blocks from my NYC apt, so I watched some of the red carpet arrivals, but then missed the show…. 🙁 So thanks for sharing– very touching!

  2. Mo, you’ve said just what I was thinking! I was also struck by her analogy. Then I got distracted by whatever was happening next. Thank you for capturing that beautiful moment for us.
