I am grateful for my family and that I am able to wish a Happy Father’s Day to my Morselicious dad, Mac! And of course to all of your papa’s. Please post a comment sharing your favorite ‘Dad stories’ or words of wisdom/wit. Mac, Mo & Mama (my sister is here in spirit!) 🙂
It’s MORSELICIOUS March-National Nutrition Month! (Did you click to see my quick video?)
Have you thought about your passion for nutrition and health? March is the PERFECT month to do so and challenge yourself! Along the same line, have you really considered the meaning of words we use everyday? Or perused the dictionary just for fun? Today, choose ONE word you have already read or uttered and look it up. Does it really mean what you think it does or have we taken it out of context in our every day vernacular the new connotation has become possibly skewed?
Where am I going with this, you ask? Well, since March is National Nutrition Month, something The Morselist is incredibly passionate about, I decided to look up different ways and words to express passion or love to encourage you to try something new and in the process, I learned something new, which gave me a new perspective. The word “amateur” came up and here are 2 definitions in the dictionary:
“Amateur” – noun
a person who engages in a study, sport, or other activity for pleasure rather than for financial benefit or professional reasons.
a person who admires something; devotee; fan.
Note, neither of the above definitions describe an amateur as a hack or “less than qualified”, which is the context I have used the term. From now on, I would be honored to call myself an amateur in subjects I pursue with love and passion.
You may be wondering WHY The Morselist is blogging about the meaning of words and nutrition month. Well, we all have passions and missions to continue our Morselicious Healthy Lifestyle and trying something new, changing our perspective enables us to do that. Make sense? Kinda cool? I welcome you to share passion or mission by posting a comment below and join me in a MORSELICIOUS March into National Nutrition Month! 🙂

Do you have a “go-to” spice in your kitchen?
I have a number of MORSELICIOUS spices I always have on hand, but I think my favorite, or at least in my top-3, is CHIPOTLE, a perfect blend of spicy and sweet.
Chipotle peppers are dried, smoked jalapeno peppers. Their smoky-sweet flavor compliments many of my MORSELICIOUS recipes, including my Spicy Mojo, which you really should try, if you haven’t already. 🙂 Ask me for the recipe or search here in my previous posts.
I seriously think I would go through with-drawls if I ran out of my chipotle powder 🙂
First, I’d like to hear from you what your top 3 favorite spices are and let’s swap/share recipes. If you’d like, I can even MORSELFY some of yours for you.
In the meantime, here’s a simple-staple/spicy-sweet-side (say that 3 times quickly), I make at least twice a week, as featured on Vitacost.com and kids love them, too!
Roasted Chipotle Sweet Potatoes
3 to 4 medium sized sweet potatoes, cut into wedges
3 to 4 tsp. ground chipotle pepper, to taste
Coconut oil spray or non-stick coking spray of choice
Juice of 1 lime
2 Tbsp. fresh parsley, chopped
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly spray baking sheet with coconut oil spray.
2. In a large bowl, toss sweet potato wedges with remaining ingredients, making sure to evenly season.
3. Place wedges on baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes or until desired crispiness.
Speaking of spicy heat; the temperatures are getting hot, hot and hot and we are winding down our MORSELICIOUS online shipments, so, please bear with us regarding shipments. Rest assured, we will contact you with daily updates when you place an order and as a thank you, please use COUPON CODE “TENMO” for 10% off your entire order.
Now, share your favorite SPICY recipe and
enjoy your MORSELICIOUS MONDAY!
